Personalised Planner =) February 13, 2008

This was something that I have made a few weeks ago. My dad brought back this planner from work which has (as usual) an empty, ugly front cover with the company name printed in bold on the front page, but really lovely printed pages inside. I I like the inside but definitely not the cover. So I decided to give the planner a facelift , spice it up a little.

I lightly sketched a design with pencil on the cover and then painted it with acrylic. I have to say that I like the result. Now the planner looks much more ME than the hundreds others that people are carrying around.

 

I purposely drew it off centre so that when the book is closed, I can see more of the picture on the front side. I was in a blue fetish at the moment hence all the different tones of blue. And it matches the cover. Not too bright to clash but enough to stand out.

Magnet Mania February 12, 2008

This was actually an accident. I first intended to reuse these as bookmarks (since I am an avid reader and I do love a nice bookmark). But after removing them from the fridge, I thought that it would be better to redecorate them instead. So I started drawing designs on them using acrylic paint. I have very limited colours so it is basically mix and matching. But it turned out okay. =)

This is the first one that I made. The background is textured, not smooth and it has a little clip to hold notes. Stick it to the fridge or noticeboard above your study table etc.

The second one I split into 6 smaller pieces. I like the idea that you can group them together to use or use them individually when you need more magnets. Soft pastel colours on a smooth white background.

 I still have two more pieces of these flat magnets. I am not sure as to how I will decorate them. Maybe one with my name on it.

Coffee Ink! February 11, 2008

Hello and welcome to coffee ink. My personal space to post all things related to crafts and of course a motivation for me to create more handmade things whether be it big or small, pretty or not. This is very very new for me, therefore I still have a very long way to go before this place looks like a proper ‘lived – in’ place but I will try to put up regular updates and post pictures of all my finished, hand crafted projects. I do hope that my studies will not come in the way maintaining this blog.

I have finished making some things over the holidays and I will put them up shortly. =) I do regret not maximising most of my holiday time in the first place but the time has gone and it is no use regretting.

Anyway, I do hope you would bookmark this blog and also put a link on your site, tag it, whatever. I am hoping to share this site with more people because this is different from my personal blog which I usually keep to within my circle of acquaintance.

This is basically a hobby for me, I really love making stuff ever since I was a kid and I do not want to stop right now because of studies or whatnot. Australia will definitely have better craft shops than Malaysia even if it is more expensive so I would probably be able to get my hands on more interesting stuff. It’s nice to be able to let my mind wander and think of new ideas to try out and very satisfying when I’ve manage to complete one project. =) I can’t keep everything that I have made so most things posted here are for sale.
